Nick + Chelsea

Meet Nick and Chelsea.

Even though I’m not shooting a lot of weddings right now, I wanted to give my friends this engagement shoot as a wedding gift.

Chelsea is into photography too and had this dream of doing a canoe-themed engagement shoot.
Her roommate Rian helped us find just the perfect spot for a magical shoot. Rian even hitched the canoe to the ATV and dragged it down to the river for us.

Chelsea’s sister, Amanda, did a great job of dog babysitting, but Auggie just had to jump in the water. This was her first swim.

Some outtakes as Chelsea was trying (unsuccessfully) to keep a straight face.

This was Nick’s favorite part of the shoot. I know it is hard to be on the other side of the camera, but I’m glad Chelsea let me take a few photos of just her.

This shot below is one of my absolute favorites from the shoot. Nick and Chelsea look so happy and giddy–like two little kids playing on the playground.

And yes, balance was a real challenge standing in the canoe. Even though these two are really good athletes, they had a few close calls. . .

…yes, the dress did get wet.

Nick and Chelsea, I am so thankful for your upcoming marriage. There is so much to celebrate and be thankful for as I see God’s love and kindness in and through both of you.
Greg and I are here to support and encourage you.
We are so excited for both of you.

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Jenny + Kendall

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

My cousin, Jenny, is getting married to Kendall this November. My younger son, Harrison, is so excited to help Jenny and Kendall as ring bearer at their wedding.
We all wanted to celebrate their upcoming marriage with an engagement shoot.

I love how Kendall is looking at Jenny in this picture. Precious.

Every photo shoot is an adventure in some way. This shoot involved some massive amounts of newly hatched caterpillars that were crawling everywhere–even on our clothes.

I LOVE rainbow flare!!!

Thank you, Jenny and Kendall, for allowing me to photograph this part of your story. My whole family enjoyed hosting you guys at our house for the weekend. See you in November!!!

A Timeless Romance

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

Christian and Hilary are getting married next summer. . . in Scotland.
And even though I won’t be hopping the pond to photograph their wedding day, I did get to celebrate their engagement with this shoot.
I love how this shoot turned out. It was such a fun mix of modern/ urban and throw back/ vintage.

Glowy flare and intense texture = 🙂

Cuties. Hilary and Christian’s expressions in this shot are contagious.

This pocket watch is not a prop. Christian carries it everywhere. For real.

Congratulations, Hilary and Christian! Thank you so much for inviting me to take these pictures of you. I’m excited about spring bridals!

Felicity & Russell are Engaged

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Felicity, Russell, and I spent the afternoon recently celebrating their upcoming marriage with an engagement shoot.
This part of town is special to them. They have spent a lot of time in this area getting to know each other.

I loved this purple dress that Felicity picked to wear.

I think Felicity looks her most beautiful when Russell is making her laugh. This picture seems to capture their relationship well. It seems like their close friendship is the basis of their love.

I’m looking forward to photographing your wedding in a few weeks!

I like this trio–each one for different reasons:

Thank you, Kristan and Andy, for letting me get to know you and photograph you. Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
