Bike Rodeo

Friday, February 21st, 2014

Harrison experienced his first Bike Rodeo today.

And Emmeline experienced her fourth and final. If our memory is right, we think she chose to cheer her friends on one year instead of participate.

Carter decided to cheer this year and keep Emmie “loose and focused” while she waited in line. Her sweet friend Brooken, walked her through too.

Our local police department inspected each bike.

The first obstacle was to balance between two lines for as long as possible.
This girl has a teapot bell on her bike; matched her ponytail holder to her jacket; and decided on a hair-do that looked good in a helmet.
This same girl systematically “assassinated” each challenge of the rodeo like a two wheeled sniper.

Our friend Brady went through too.

Harrison looked to one side for most of the rodeo. He couldn’t keep his eyes forward because he was so distracted by all the people and the action.

The second obstacle was a steering obstacle. You make your way through two very narrow lines without touching them.
The third obstacle was a figure eight.

The last obstacle was a slalom-like course through a set of cones.

Emmeline’s 11th Birthday Party

Monday, February 17th, 2014

Yesterday we celebrated Emmeline’s 11th birthday a little early.
We kept it simple.
Em and her friends took some photos in the photo booth.
Then we headed to Freebird’s to enjoy dinner out.

Lindy had to join us late so she didn’t make the picture.

The girls challenged themselves to hold a lemon slice in their mouths for as long as possible.

Elise was proud of her results.

Emmeline didn’t make it that far.

After dinner, we got ice cream.
Elise suggested that they all serenade Emmie with an embarrassing rendition of “Happy Birthday”.
They made Emmie stand on a bench outside and sang into their ice cream cones.

Can you tell which friend always knows where her audience is???

GE9A3866blog

Yes, it was loud!

On the way to dinner, I said to Emmeline, “I hope you enjoy your birthday party.”
Her reply was simple and shows how much she cares for these friends. She said, “I will. I love my friends.”
Just being with them made the night special.
Thank you, Lindy, Helene, KC, Kendal, Mimi, Lucy, Sydney, and Elise for being Emmie’s friends.

. . . Karen Russell, couldn’t have shot these low light shots on the fly without you!
